WILDLIFE REFUGE
The City of Mountain Park is an officially designated wildlife refuge which protects all wildlife including birds, animals, and reptiles. A variety of species including, Great Blue Herons, Red-tailed Hawks, Eastern Bluebirds, and Pileated Woodpeckers live here during the year. Please be cautious when driving, and obey the citywide speed limit of 25 mph.
CITY CODES OF INTEREST
Sec. 6-134 Protection of wildlife
It shall be unlawful for any person within the corporate limits of the city to:
(1) Intentionally harm or injure or kill any wildlife.
(2) Intentionally use any weapon to harm or injure or kill any wildlife.
(3) Place or set any traps designed to entrap or ensnare any wildlife.
(4) Intentionally disturb or destroy the nesting or breeding place of any wildlife;
(5) Knowingly permit dogs and cats to harm or injure or kill any wildlife, or to disturb or destroy the nesting or breeding place of any wildlife; and/or
(6) Take the eggs or young of any wildlife.

through the Arbor Day Foundation through the work of resident, Krystal Notter. The Tree City USA® program, sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters, provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities that more than 135 million Americans call home.
